Beginning as early as late September, Trail Ridge Road can be temporarily closed as a through road due to snow and ice at higher elevations. The closing of Trail Ridge Road is entirely weather dependent. Over the last 10 years, the last date that you could drive all of Trail Ridge Road has been as early as October 4 and as late as November 13 (rare). The average last date that Trail Ridge Road is entirely open as a through road between Estes Park and Grand Lake is usually around October 20. ![]()
